People call me “America’s Most Trusted Pharmacist®” because I’ve been a licensed pharmacist for over 22 years and I am able to share the pros and cons of medication use as well as offer natural substitutions for most any of your health concerns. While I pride myself in ‘thinking outside the pill’ let me just say that I am still very proud to wear my white coat because I realize that there is a time and place for medications. We need to consider all of our options, and often, a combination is best.
I’ve spent the the last 13 years writing a syndicated column called “Dear Pharmacist” which focus on health and explores the use of natural supplements, as well as the safe use of medications if you are taking them. This has been printed in many newspapers nationwide. You might say I’m the ‘Dear Abby’ of health. My syndicated column reaches millions of people each week via newspapers, magazines and Internet health sites.
I’ve always considered myself a bit of a clinical nerd, though I am often invited to do media work, public speaking or radio programs. When I first started, I was very nervous, but now I love it. Go figure. I think it’s because I get a make up artist and I can usually talk my husband into a pair of new shoes even though I am only being filmed from the waist up! He hasn’t caught on yet, LOL. Most recently, I was on the Dr. Oz Show and The View. Now, you can watch me on TV more often. I have a syndicated TV spot on the most widely viewed health show in America, “Know The Cause.” Click here to see where you can view this show in your local area.
My books are my pride and joy. I have The 24-Hour Pharmacist (Collins 2007), Diabetes Without Drugs (Rodale 2010) and a new, exclusive version of my original self-published title Drug Muggers ( Rodale 2011). Diabetes Without Drugs is my most recent accomplishment. This is available in hardcover (now) and paperback (November 2010). This book is written and geared to consumers. It is easy to read and one of the most comprehensive books on diabetes you will ever find. It has a unique perspective, different than every other book on the market. In fact, it is so pioneering that it was selected by a worldwide organization, “The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine” for use in classrooms in order to help doctors get ‘Board Certified in Diabetes & Metabolic Syndrome.” This is quite a distinction for me, I am very honored. What it means to you is that more and more doctors will use what they learn in my book to help patients around the world reverse diabetes without drugs. Sweet!
I’ve been asked how it is that I (as a licensed pharmacist) am able to offer such a unique perspective about health, and relay information that is not widely known by physicians in all my books, and in my weekly syndicated column (which you should sign up for HERE on my home page). Hmmm, it takes dedication and constant research. I belong to some of the most prestigious health organizations in the world. Sometimes, when I attend their meetings, I am the only pharmacist in the entire room of thousands of physicians who have flown in from all around the world! That is a thrill, as I am intellectually insatiable. The following are among the many organizations that I belong to and learn from, in order to bring YOU the most current, cutting-edge health information in the world:
- The American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM)
- The Institute of Functional Medicine
- The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M)
- American Pharmacist’s Association
I’ll tell you that I love to hike in the woods of Colorado, I am amazed with the beauty of our planet and will drive pretty much anywhere to catch a gorgeous sunset or rainbow, or wade through a river to get to a hot spring or a waterfall. You’ll see some crazy pictures on my facebook from places I’ve been. In fact, if you want to develop more of a personal relationship with me, you’ll have to join me on Facebook Click Here, because I like to keep my website professional. You’ll get good dirt on me on Facebook and Twitter (I promise I’ll start tweeting more soon). My husband Sam and I have had the pleasure of loving 3 fantastic children named Samara, Rachel, and Michael. I am extremely proud of them, and their presence in my life allows me to wake up with a smile each day.
